My husband recently read me a quote by Mr. Rogers that says, ‘There are three ways to ultimate success: The first way is to be kind. The second way is to be kind. The third way is to be kind.” I would only add, LOVE JESUS. (That kindness has to have a source!!)
Seems simple enough, right? Well, what happens when the stakes are high and people are stressed.
We often work with clients either buying a property, selling a property, refinancing a property, discussing their estate planning, or drawing up their last will before death. These situations can be a bit tense. Most times, someone along the way in their process has shown not to be the nicest to them. In turn, they project that onto us. I would be lying if I said that every single person we work with is kind. However, I love to remember this quote because I try to live by it.
Not because I’m Mother Teresa or the greatest Christian that ever lived, but more because I want to use my kindness as a sort of shield. Selfish? Maybe a tad; but, ultimately, it can benefit everyone. When I can deflect negativity in situations with my kindness, it keeps me in a bubble of protection. I don’t have to allow other people’s frustrations to affect me, I’m able to go in professionally and do whatever I can to be helpful. I can confidently make our clients feel at peace even in the midst of potential chaos. I truly try to walk that out daily.
As a person, not just an entrepreneur, I have had people attack my character and my marriage. Even in what we do, I have fallen victim to the frustrations of others. Hurt people, hurt people.
It isn’t always easy, but as our business name states, we ARE ‘Noble Notary and Legal Document Preparers.
In the face of complete unkindness(because it will present itself), stand firm. Remain kind, remain noble, and always do the right thing.
