The liturgical guidance follows the Order of Christian Funerals as it is commonly celebrated in the Latin Church, but diocesan policy and parish custom vary a great deal — particularly on music, words of remembrance, and cremated remains. Please review your choices with your parish priest, and treat what he tells you as governing over anything written in the planner. This workbook carries no imprimatur and is not a liturgical book.
What it does hold is the hundred things a legal document never will: which readings, which priest, which mysteries of the Rosary, why the crucifix should go to your grandson, and how many Masses you would like offered. Keep it alongside your executed documents, never in place of them.

Frequently asked questions
Is this planner approved by the Church?
It is a privately produced planning workbook, not a liturgical book, and it carries no imprimatur. The liturgical content follows the Order of Christian Funerals as it is commonly celebrated, but diocesan policy varies and your pastor's guidance always governs.
Does it really include the Funeral Mass readings?
Yes. The planner lays out the standard Lectionary options for Masses for the Dead as a checklist you can simply mark: Old Testament readings, the Easter season alternatives from Acts and the Apocalypse, the Responsorial Psalms, the New Testament readings, and the Gospel options. There is then a worksheet page for recording your choices and who you would like to proclaim each one.
Which Bible translation is used?
The Douay-Rheims, Challoner revision, which is in the public domain. Chapter and verse numbering follows that edition, with modern numbering given in parentheses wherever it differs, so nobody is confused looking a passage up.
Does it cover cremation?
Yes, and plainly: that the Church continues to earnestly recommend burial of the body, that cremation is permitted, and what she asks regarding interment of ashes in a sacred place. Because practice in this area has developed in recent years and diocesan policy differs, the planner directs you to confirm the current rules with your pastor.
What if my parish will not allow a eulogy or the song I want?
The planner tells you that up front rather than letting you find out at the funeral home. The Church asks for a homily at the Funeral Mass rather than a eulogy, and many parishes do not permit secular music during the liturgy. There are dedicated pages for the Vigil, the graveside, and the reception, which is where that music and those stories properly belong.
