To be a notary in California, will first require completion of a 6-hour course through a list of approved
vendors.
After that the following steps need to be done:
- Pass a written exam with a score of 70
- Get The California Notary Handbook
- Complete application
- Submit fingerprints via Live Scan
- Pass a background check by FBI and DOJ
- Pay $40 fee
- File Oath of Office with Bond within 30 days
